CHAMPION COMMUNITY CALENDAR

1928

A hand full of residents and business owners saw the need for fire protection. The Champion Heights Fire Department INC. was established as a subscription private company.

1915

Champion Central School was built and would serve students in grades 1-12 (first high school in Champion).

1889

There were nine one-room school houses in Champion serving students in grades 1-8. The No. 3 Shafer road school house currently sits adjacent to the Champion Township Cemetery; 149 Center St. East.

1839

Champion Presbyterian Church established.

1836

Champion School District is established.

1831

Champion Township officially established, named for the primary land owner General Henry Champion.

1828

William Woodrow House Built, located on 138 Champion St. East.

1803

Ohio becomes the 17th state in the Union.

1800

Trumbull County established.

1798

General Henry Champion aquires the land that would become Champion Township.
