Champion Local Schools Transportation Department would like to remind parents that your child will be bused to and from their home address unless you have an Alternate Bus Form on file. Students that were on alternative busing last year will be automatically rolled over to this year. Parents are responsible to notify the Transportation Department with any changes. IMPORTANT due to building changes - If your child did not ride last year, and needs to ride this year, you will need to fill out a form that they are returning to the bus so we don’t have buses overloaded. If your child is going into 5th grade, you may need to fill out a new bus form since there may be time changes in your own routine since last year.
If you wish to change your child’s busing for the first day of school, their form must be returned to the Transportation Department in the Board Office (back corner of the High School) before 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15th. In order for routes to be set for drivers and teachers for the first day of school, forms turned in after the deadline will not take effect until Monday, August 27th. Forms that are returned to the Transportation office on/after the first day of school will not be effective until 48 hours after they are turned in. Forms can be picked up and returned to any building. You can also download an Alternate Busing Form from our website http://championlocal.org under the Transportation tab.
Bus pick up times for the High School and Middle School are from 6:45-7:30 A.M. and Central Elementary times are from 7:45-8:30 A.M. Routes will be finalized the week before school starts. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Paula Eakins at 330-847-2399.

Sharing the Road with School Buses
If you're driving behind a bus, allow a greater following distance than if you were driving behind a car. It will give you more time to stop once the yellow lights start flashing. It is illegal in all 50 states to pass a school bus that is stopped to load or unload children.
- Never pass a bus from behind – or from either direction if you're on an undivided road – if it is stopped to load or unload children
- If the yellow or red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended, traffic must stop
- The area 10 feet around a school bus is the most dangerous for children; stop far enough back to allow them space to safely enter and exit the bus
- Be alert; children often are unpredictable, and they tend to ignore hazards and take risks

The community is reminded to be safe and consider their own routes as buses will be on the roads and students will be traveling to and from school. Regular Start/End Times will resume on Thursday, Aug. 23.
Please be aware that times are relative as routes are adjusted to accommodate changing community needs. During the first couple of weeks of schools community members should be aware buses route times may vary. Please plan accordingly.
