CES Art Program enhances the educational experience

Champion Central Elementary's Art teacher, Mr. Kittle is teaching his fourth grade students different methods to work with clay. Pictured is a fun method called "Pinch Potting" that he taught his students to use to make these Pinch Pot Snowman bells. Each student works with the clay pinching it to form a bowl and then continues to mold it into the bell. They will add a bell inside to ring and cloth scarfs. This was their first time to work with clay in Art class but it won't be the last time.

Editor's Note: In “Neuroeducation: Learning, Arts and the Brain,” Johns Hopkins researchers shared findings showing that arts education can help rewire the brain in positive ways. One aspect of this comprehensive study found students motivated to practice a specific art form and spent time with focused attention increased the efficiency of their attention network as a whole, even when working in other areas of study — and it improved their fluid IQ scores.
