STEM Programs build young minds

Champion Central Elementary first grade team are implementing STEM programs for their students. STEM lessons focus on the core subjects: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM programs are integral part of 21st century learning environments.
Each first grade class created houses large enough for a toy to fit inside. Students were taught to consider different aspects of the project that are intended to develop a more comprehensive view of how these subjects work together. The lessons guided the students in creating a real world model. Their creativity and teamwork skills were also stimulated by the STEM lessons. Each class learned about different possible building materials. The result was a wide range of unique houses designed and created by each class.
