S-T-E-L-L-A-R Spellers
CMS held its annual Spelling Bee on Friday, January 15. Nineteen students from grades five through eight participated. Grade-level trophy winners were Riley Robinette, fifth grade; Gunnar Gray, sixth grade; Parker Paniagua, seventh grade; and Abbigayle Grace, eighth grade. Seventh grader Parker Paniagua and eighth grader Abbigayle Grace, ended up being the last two spellers vying for the spot as the champion speller. The two students impressively spelled very difficult words with no problem.

In the end, the CMS Spelling Bee Champion for 2016 was...Seventh grader Parker Paniagua! Parker was also the CMS Spelling Bee Champion as a fifth grader and has been in the CMS Spelling Bee since fifth grade! Runner-up Abbigayle Grace is also a returning CMS Spelling Bee Champion. She also won the CMS Spelling Bee in fifth grade and has been a spelling bee participant each year. We at CMS are very proud of both Parker and Abbigayle, all of our grade-level trophy winners, and all nineteen of our grade-level participants! Everyone did an impressive job! CMS would also like to thank CMS's Team Parent who sponsored our spelling bee and to area businesses who generously donated gift cards, coupons, and snacks to all of our spelling bee participants. The generous businesses who supported our spellers are Beverage Tunnel, Champion Lanes, Champion Skate, Chick-fil-A, Dunkin' Donuts, McDonald's, Panera, Sam's Club, Snyder Chips, Sparkle, Taco Bell, Walmart, and Wendy's. You are all appreciated! CMS Spelling Bee Advisor, Mrs. Battaglia. Submitted by Heather Campbell
