Santa delights at Rotary Event

Santa took time out of his busy schedule to visit Champion on Dec. 7. Allowing his reindeer to rest for the big night Santa arrived at the Champion Presbyterian church on a shiny, red Champion Township Fire Engine #21. Santa delighted all those in attendance, both the young and the young at heart. This free annual event, sponsored and coordinated by the Rotary Club of Champion, continues to be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fellowship of the season.

The Rotary Club of Champion is so grateful for the many wonderful partnerships that helped make this event possible. The trees and hall were decorated with handmade ornaments. Thanks to Mr. Greg Kittle and his Art Students at Champion Central Elementary for their hard work. Their creations were amazing. Thanks also to the community that provided a gift for every child at the event through their generous donations coordinated and administered by our local Dollar General. And special thanks to Mary Jo Ohlin of MJO Photography who annually donates her time and talents by giving every family a beautiful photo with Santa.
Thanks also to the many community members who helped make our “Service above Self” Art Table a complete success. Over 200 handmade cards were created and will be distributed the Champion High School Interact Club to area shut-ins and residents who will greatly appreciate their beauty. The Interact Club is a youth service club mentored by the Rotary Club of Champion and built on the Rotarian principle of “Service above Self”.
