What is Interact?

Interact is a Rotary International community service club for young people. The Rotary Club of Champion was presented with an opportunity to institute an Interact Club at Champion High School in the fall of 2014. Under the mentorship and direction of the Rotary Club of Champion, Interactors participate in many service activities where they learn to both serve and lead.
The Champion Rotary/CHS Interact Club is open to Champion students in grades 9 -12 who meet the criteria of membership and fulfill their commitments to function under the Rotary ideal of Service above Self.
Interactors pledge to actively support many school, community, district and international projects. Membership is a privilege, giving members the opportunity to develop leadership skills while serving the community in a concrete and meaningful way.
Interactors are expected to maintain acceptable academic and behavioral standards of Champion High School and of Rotary International as well as work towards and attain a CHS Volunteer Cord upon graduation.
In the three years since its inception at Champion High School, Interactors have already established two annual scholarships derived from their own fundraising. They have also helped develop a successful annual Safety Town program alongside Champion Rotarians.
Interactors have begun a supportive relationship with the Animal Welfare League, using their membership drive as a vehicle to support this Safety Town partner. They work at many major Rotary functions including signature events: Rotary Cookies with Santa and the Rotary Memorial Day Parade.
Interactors are quickly gaining the respect of the community and are asked to support many community functions. Recently the Champion Rotary Club/CHS Interact Club served as facilitators at the very successful Taste of Home Cooking School held at Champion High School. The event was attended by over 800 people. Along with their service students are encourage to have fun, make bonds, build personal skills, make lasting connections with fellow students, community members and Rotarians.
The Rotary of Champion was pleased to learn that a recent CHS graduate and founding Interact Member is pursuing membership in Rotaract, the young adult service club in the Rotary family, at her college and will be an alumni presenter at 2017 Safety Town.
