The Champion Township Board of Trustees received notice from Mr. Frank Migliozzi of the Trumbull County Health Department that a mosquito testing positive for West Nile Virus was captured in a trap along the Greenway Bike Trail within Champion Township. An exact location was not available at the time of the notification.

The Health Department has indicated that larvacide treatment of stagnant water within the township will be scheduled in addition to Champion Township’s next scheduled spraying to be conducted on August 28th.

The Champion Township Board of Trustees will rely upon the expertise of the Trumbull County Health Department for guidance and direction in addressing this situation. Individuals are advised to take precautions including: use of mosquito repellent, avoiding outdoor activities from dusk to dawn when mosquitoes are most active and wearing long sleeves and long pants.
