Rider Safety course offered at Kent Trumbull

Basic Rider Courses (BRC) are available at Kent State Salem and Kent State Trumbull in Champion. By passing the BRC or the BRC-RR (returning rider) course, the state (Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles) will waive the skill test for your motorcycle endorsement on your driver’s license. Register today-classes fill quickly. Programs offered in partnership with Kent State University and the Ohio Department of Public Safety.

All students must have a valid temporary motorcycle learner’s permit (TIPIC) or a valid motorcycle endorsement. Motorcycles and helmets are provided.

Note:
  • Location: Classes held at Kent State Trumbull and Kent State Salem
  • Schedule: Classes begin March 31. You must attend all 3 days of training:
    • Thursday (6 -10p.m.), 
    • Saturday (8 a.m. -2 p.m.)
    • Sunday (8 a.m. -2 p.m.)
  • Hours: BRC Courses are 16 hours (4 classroom, and 12 range)
  • Cost: $50
If classes are full, you are welcome to walk in on Thursday night. If all registered students are not in the classroom at the start of class on Thursday, walk-ins will be accepted and registered into the class using a lottery system.
