Roger Samuelson, dedicated community servant passes
Roger Samuelson never met a person who was not a friend. He left this life to enter the next late Tuesday, March 22 after a brief illness. Everyone who knew Roger knows he is now enjoying the biggest, best reunion in heaven now.
Roger greeted everyone with a smile, he genuinely loved Champion. His feelings were translated into action serving 26+ years as a Champion Board of Education member and many years on the Trumbull Career and Technical Center board as well. The only time Roger's smile would ever break was when he was vehemently defending the rights of the public school system against those who seek to diminish it. It was all for the good of the kids and the community. There was not an athlete, club member, student in Champion who Roger did not support. He was a regular fixture at games, on buses, at competitions and exhibitions. He was genuinely proud and encouraged students beyond graduation.
Roger was Board Delegate to OSBA Assembly 1994, 1995, 2002, 2005. He was 1 of 5 members from NE Ohio School Board District on Legislative Platform Committee since 2004. He served as a member, Executive Committee OSBA 2010. Roger also served as President of TCTC Board 2000, 2001; Vice President 2005 and Board Representative to TCTC 1998 to present.
Beyond all of his accomplishments as a Board Member, Roger was simply a good man, kind soul, well respected and well loved.
