CHS Speech team State and National qualifiers
A (Ohio Speech and Debate Association) State Finals held March 1-3 at Sylvania Southview high school in Toledo, Ohio. Senior Nic Lilly advanced to the final round of competition and placed 5th in Program Interpretation. During his seven rounds of competition, Nic faced 72 of the best competitors from seven districts throughout Ohio. Junior Hailee Wilson advanced to the quarterfinal rounds in Informative Speaking. Hailee finished 19th out of 66 competitors. Sophomore Madison Hoopes competed in four preliminary rounds of competition in Declamation. In addition, the team finished 37th out of 89 schools despite only taking three competitors. Congratulations to the 2018 Champion Speech Team! The Champion Speech Team continued its winning tradition at the OSD.
Champion High School is proud to announce another winning title to our list. Nic Lilly won the Northern Ohio District Speech Tournament and qualified for the NSDA National Tournament in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Nic remained undefeated throughout eight rounds of competition to place 1st in Program interpretation. In addition, Hailee Wilson advanced to the final round in Informative Speaking and finished 4th. She is first alternate to the national tournament and has qualified to the OSDA state tournament in March. Congratulations also goes to Erin Goebel who advanced to the semi-final round in Original Oratory and finished in the top eight.
