Yoga clinic for kids: Mindfulness helps students

Students at Champion Central Elementary have the opportunity to participate in an after school enrichment Yoga Clinic during the month of November.

Kids’ brains have to work pretty hard these days. They seem to have more jam-packed school and home lives than our generation and all the bright, busy screens competing for their attention make quiet time hard to come by. Yoga and mindfulness is a great way to introduce a little stillness into their days. Even the most basic techniques can help to improve their concentration and self-awareness and empower them to better manage their emotions.

The program will help
 Maximize students' capacity for focusing attention in a way that is strength-based and supportive of their needs
 Come into better emotional balance, reduce impulsive behavior, and support their capacity to make good choices
 Learn basic yoga poses (asanas) and meditation techniques

Brenda Henderson, Certified Yoga Instructor and owner of B-Inspired Yoga in Champion will be leading this program.
